Founder and editor of SmartBenefitUSA — I build the calculators, source the data, and write the guides.
I'm BunkyHero. I built SmartBenefitUSA because I kept running into the same problem: the numbers that decide real household money — what a kilowatt-hour costs in your state, what Medicare Part B actually runs this year, whether a 15-year mortgage is worth the higher payment — are all public, and all buried in PDFs and agency dashboards written for analysts.
Every calculator and guide here is built and maintained by me. There's no content team and no ghostwriting agency. If a number on this site is wrong, it's my mistake to fix, and I'd like to hear about it.
I don't estimate figures or reuse averages I can't trace. Each tool is wired to a named public source:
When a source publishes new figures, I update the calculators and note the date. Where a number is a range or an estimate, the page says so rather than presenting it as precise.
I'm not a licensed financial advisor, insurance broker, mortgage originator, or Medicare agent, and nothing on this site is personalised advice. These are educational tools that show you how the math works with current public data — the arithmetic is sound, but it can't know your health, your credit file, your roof, or your tax situation.
For decisions that carry real consequences, talk to someone licensed in your state. For Medicare specifically, your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) gives free, unbiased, one-on-one counselling — genuinely useful and no one is selling you anything.
SmartBenefitUSA is supported by display advertising. I don't take affiliate commissions from solar installers, insurers, or lenders, which means nothing here is engineered to push you toward a particular vendor. If the math says solar doesn't pay off at your electricity rate, the calculator tells you that — and several state results do exactly that.
The tools require no account, no email, and collect no personal data.
